Here is a game you will want to try out. It’s cute, it’s unusual, it’s challenging, it supports two players. You are a hamster with a rocket launcher strapped to it’s back. That’s right You are a hamster! And your job is to kill the Aliens. That’s right. And there are jets and spaceships and other things (which are truly unidentified flying objects) shooting at you. It would be good for kids, but, not too young. This game is hard. You are quite out numbered, so, you definitely have a challenge. Preschoolers might cry because their hamster might die too often. You make money by eliminating certain targets which allows you to buy extra lives or shields and more at the end of each level. I’d suggest the extra lives. Objects left behind from destroyed space ships give you weapon upgrades and shields .You’ll know when you’re dead because your hamster is replaced by a tombstone or a burial cross. The Game can be played by two, using the mouse and keyboard or joystick for the second player. The graphics are great with a mixture ranging from sophisticated to down right silly. This is one of the exceptions that it manages to work well. Come on now, your are a hamster with a rocket launcher strapped to it’s back, fighting an Alien invasion. Anything goes. Plus while you are busy trying not to die, you’re lucky if you manage to make out all the numerous things that are trying to kill you anyway. Mighty Rodent is a fun game, right up there with Platypus.
